Obituary for William P. Camirand
William Paul Camirand of Merrimack NH passed away February 2, 2018 while convalescing at Greenbriar Healthcare after a long period of failing health.

Bill was born in Exeter NH in 1938, the only son of William and Laura Camirand. He was raised in Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School. Bill played football in high school and was a big Dallas Cowboy’s fan. Following in his father’s footsteps he served in the US Air Force for 6 years as a chef. He continued this career in civilian life. Bill was working at the Nashua Country Club as second cook, under his father who was head chef, when he met Veronica Widener. They fell in love and were married on the 4th of July, 1964. After their wedding at St Patrick’s Church in Nashua, they travelled to Disneyworld in Florida for their honeymoon. So after their return, Bill and his new wife started a family.

Bill continued to work for several years as a cook, until he decided he wanted a change of scenery. And that’s exactly what he got. He started a new career as a long distance truck driver. He enjoyed this new stage of his life, which afforded him the excitement of seeing a large part of this country he loved. When he retired he was working as a truck driver for William Footer Inc. of Merrimack. Unfortunately, an injury on the job forced him into early retirement.

Bill was a devoted father and loving husband, with a dry sense of humor and a heart made of gold.
He was a member of the Elks Club in Nashua. When he wasn’t working he doted on his family, and tended his garden. Fresh vegetables from his own garden added to the joy of cooking for them at home meals and family gatherings. In retirement he also enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. During his later years, Bill suffered from multiple ailments that led to several surgeries and years of crippling pain. But he never lost his sense of humor and delighted in teasing the youngest in the family.

Bill is survived by his wife (affectionately Roni), four of their five children (and spouses), all of NH; Chad and Michelle Camirand, William and Debbie Camirand, Cheryl and John Demers, and Shawn Camirand; his only sister Nancy (Camirand) Maynard, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and one great-granddaughter. He was sadly predeceased by his daughter Lori-Ellen Camirand.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack NH on Saturday Feb. 17 at 10:30am. A casual memorial gathering will immediately follow in the church hall. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
