Obituary for Brenda Patten Campbell

Brenda Patten Campbell, 53, of Greenville, NH, passed away on September 1, 2024. She was born March 29, 1971, in Fitchburg, MA, the daughter of John & Jean (Townsend) Patten. It was Brenda’s dream to be reunited with her mom who passed in 2018, and her dad in 2006.

Brenda is survived by her loving brother, Kevin S. Patten, his wife Arlene, their three sons and their families, a host of extended family members, countless friends, and friends that were like Family. Our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved sister, Brenda. Her bright light and big heart left us too soon. We will remember her warmth, love and generosity. She had an infectious smile and giggle. Her personality was far bigger than life itself.

It’s been said, that Brenda did not have much in life. Although, she never looked at it with that type of lens. Her future was far from being dim, and her outlook on life was not cloudy. What Brenda did have, was a handful of faithful, loving and supportive girlfriends (true Sistahs) that are closer than her estranged sister, Mary Patten Letourneau of 30+ years.

These Sistahs were the safety nets in her chaotic world. The value of these types of relationships cannot be measured in dollars and cents, but in the priceless moments and memories shared. Their friendship was the anchor that kept them all grounded and reminded them what truly mattered. Brenda’s friends were the family she chose. Their love, and acceptance made them richer, than anyone could ever imagine. The beauty of this friendship, is that it multiplies the joys and divides the sorrows, making life’s burdens easier to bear.

Brenda has taught us all some important lessons in life, that can’t be forgotten. She had some quirky, quick-witted phrases that would make you chuckle and second guess her with a mouthful of laughter. One of my favorite and most memorable conversations was practicing gratitude. She said, “Yah know, it’s a strange thing about life, sometimes we hang on so tight, we forget to live, but, once you take note of things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things you lack in life, and really begin to live”.

Most of her life, she struggled with Kidney disease. She embraced the journey daily, and even weekly as she continued dialysis for eleven plus years. Many friends can recall, “Brenda’s Journey of Hope” for a Kidney transplant. She was hopeful to the end and remained positive that her time was coming. She believed it would happen, if not here, in Heaven she would be made whole.

Her short, well-lived life was nothing shy of being an ongoing adventure, full of delightful surprises, intense emotions and moments of both joy and sorrow.

Those with special memories of Brenda are asked to share them in the obituary guestbook.

Many have asked how they can help our family during this very difficult time. We appreciate your consideration. If you are so inclined, you can make a financial contribution to help pay for expenses. Please send any donations to Kevin S. Patten at PO Box 190 Wentworth, NH 03282 noted 'In memory of Brenda'.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
