GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of Deborah. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
On December 26th, 2023, Deborah left this world surrounded by loved ones, both present and with her in spirit. All who knew her will miss her unique take on the world, her generosity, her quick wit, her creative style, and her stories (punctuated with sound effects!).
Ursula K. Le Guin said, “the creative adult is the child who survived.” Deborah Ann Bones, born October 21st, 1953, built herself a life full of love and beauty. She was a lover of connection and was always bringing people together. She liked celebrating others, especially over her delicious homemade meals. She always made enough to send guests home with leftovers.
Deborah loved animals, and animals were drawn to her, too. She rescued black cats and dachshunds, giving each of them every comfort, and she did the same for the woodland creatures who lived around the homes she lived in. She was an astute observer of the natural world.
Deborah was an artist, and elements of nature were her primary subject. She studied jewelry making at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA and in her later years, she studied photography in Las Cruces, NM. These two mediums, as well as many others, bolstered her eye for beautiful design, which she put to good use in the homes she renovated and decorated. The spaces Deborah created were a joy to visit. In New Mexico she was proud to play an integral part in installing a tile mosaic walkway in Las Cruces’ La Placita park.
Deborah let her wild spirit lead her on adventures. She spent her formative years in Vermont, lived all over New England, and her last years in New Hampshire, but her heart brought her to Scotland, Peru, and to the homes of friends and family all over the United States. She cherished each relationship she had and did her best to let people know she loved them.
When she couldn’t travel, Deborah loved reading about esoteric and spiritual topics, and it made for thoughtful discussions. Deborah cared about humanity and worked to do her part to lessen the suffering of others.
Deborah would be honored by any small gesture of kindness you show yourself or someone who needs it. She would especially like to know a donation was made in her name to any animal rescue organization.
