Edward J. Blanchette, 89, of Greenville died on March 30, 2017, at Monadnock Community Hospital. He was born May 11, 1927 in Milford N.H. to the late George and Emilia (Belanger) Blanchette. He graduated from Milford High School class of 1945. He entered the U.S. Navy that year with a war diploma to serve during World War II. After the war he worked for the Hillsborough Mill and the Abbot Worsted Mill in Wilton. He later worked at and managed the State Liquor Store in Greenville for 27 years. Ed enjoyed being active outdoors skiing, hiking, canoeing, gardening and landscaping. He was always proud of the fact that he celebrated his 70th birthday by skiing the headwall and snowfields at Tuckerman’s Ravine. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at his camp at Pratt Pond in New Ipswich, NH. He loved his family and valued the many friends he had made throughout his life. He was a member of the American Legion Greenville NH Post 13 for 70 years where he actively served in many capacities including as chaplain. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Greenville. For several years he helped to maintain the Wapack Trail as a member of the Friends of the Wapack. He was also a member of the Harris Center, Trailwrights, Montachusett Ski Club, the NH State Employee Association, and the Monadnock Conservancy. He was a founding member and longtime president of the Pratt Pond Association, and did much for the pond. The Association showed their appreciation for his years of service to the pond by naming the dam in his honor in 2007. He is survived by his three sons, Richard Blanchette and his wife Renee of New Ipswich, Michael Blanchette and his wife Cheryl of Dunkirk, MD, and Daniel Blanchette of New Ipswich; five grandchildren, Heather Blanchette and her fiancé Damon Klempner of Greenville , Chelsea Blanchette and her fiancé Arick Keophanaphay of Greenfield, Amy Alexander and her husband Brian Alexander of Lebanon, Sarah Haynes of Underhill VT, and Chad Blanchette and his wife Caitlin of Peterborough; five great grandchildren, Tristan Haynes of Underhill VT, Ava and Zoey Alexander of Lebanon, Audrey Blanchette of Peterborough and Lilly Klempner of Greenville, and many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his sister Theresa Photos of Manchester. He was predeceased by his cherished wife of 66 years, Constance (Lizotte) Blanchette, who passed away in 2013. He was also predeceased by his brothers Joseph Blanchette and Arthur Blanchette. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 15 High Street, Greenville, NH 03048. Or to Friends of the Wapack, P.O. Box 115, West Peterborough, NH 03468. Calling hours will be 4PM to 6PM, Tuesday, April 11, at Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple Street, Wilton, NH. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 12, at 11AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 15 High Street, Greenville, NH, followed by a mercy dinner at the church.
