Gilbert Joseph Deschenes Jr, 90, of Milford, NH, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, March 8, 2018. He was born on January 17, 1928, in Greenville, NH, the son of Gilbert J. Deschenes Sr. and Yvonne (Michaud) Deschenes.
Gilbert married his loving wife Yvette (Morin) June 28, 1952. They lived very happy life together for 53 years. He worked as a machinist for NH Ball Bearing in Peterborough, NH for 29 years. He has been a resident of Milford, NH since 2000, before that he was a resident of Jaffrey, NH for 17 years. Gilbert is a US Army Veteran who had served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Leclair Caron Legion & Sons, post commander of Post 13, of Greenville, NH, and part of the firing squad for more than 20 years. Gilbert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was loved by many.
Gilbert is survived by his son, Robert R. Deschenes and his wife Sharon, of Rindge, NH. His daughter, Rachel E. Sullivan and her husband Scott Whitehead, of Milford, NH. His grandchildren; Michelle Cutler and her husband Edmond, and their children, Megan and Joshua, of Claremont, NH, and Melissa Ross and her husband Derek, and their children, Brian, Brett, and Colby, of Greenfield, NH. His brother Andre Deschenes, of Jaffrey, NH. His sisters; Irene Radier of Baldwinville, MA, Murial Spaulding, of Gardner, MA, and Yvonne. He is predeceased by his wife, Yvette Deschenes. His brothers; Lionel Deschenes and Raymond Deschenes. His sisters; Lucy Lord and Theresa Fortunate.
All are warmly welcome to calling hours at the Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple St., Wilton, NH, on Friday, March 9, 2018, from 5pm-7pm. A church service will be held at the Devine Mercy Parish, 12 Church St, Peterborough, NH, on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 10am.
