Janice Elaine Foote, 73, of Manchester, NH passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 3, 2024, at Catholic Medical Center with her husband by her side.
She was born on January 29th, 1951, to Wells D. and Leona (Cameron) Foote, in Natick MA. She spent her formative years in Lyndeborough, NH where she graduated from Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative on June 13, 1969. Janice's love for learning and community was deeply profound. A proud member of The National Honor Society, she held her academic achievements close to her heart, and her accomplishments as a talented cheerleader further showcased her spirited dedication. Her journey through life was marked by love and creativity.
Janice found the love of her life in James “Jim” Mitchell Jr., who introduced her to the rich traditions and stories of his Native American heritage. This became a profound part of Janice’s life, influencing her creativity. Her admiration for the culture was beautifully reflected in the jewelry she crafted, where she often incorporated designs and elements that paid homage to the traditions and history she came to cherish. A master of her craft, Janice made her own yarn, knitting and crocheting beautiful pieces that brought warmth and comfort to many.
A skilled legal secretary, Janice dedicated many years to her profession at Brown & Fitzpatrick in Portsmouth, NH. Her true passion lay in the art of creation.
Janice’s kindness and creativity will be remembered by all who knew her. Especially by her two Chinese Crested Powderpuff dogs, Envy and Jasmine, her beloved companions, who in their own way seem to understand that Janice is no longer physically here, but her love and presence will remain with them always. Their bond will be a reminder of the quiet, beautiful relationships Janice nurtured with those she loved, both human and animal alike.
Janice leaves behind her husband James “Jim” Mitchell of Manchester, NH; her sister Nancy Foote of Elk Grove CA. She is predeceased by her father, Wells D. Foote, mother Leona (Cameron) Foote, sister Barbara Koskovich and her two brothers Richard (Dickie) and Roger Foote.
Family and friends are warmly welcome to attend a funeral service for Janice at Michaud Funeral Home 32 Maple Street, Wilton NH from 5:00pm-6:00pm on September 13th, 2024.
A burial will take place at South Cemetery on Cemetery Rd, Lyndeborough, NH at 1:00pm on Saturday September 14th, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janice’s name may be made to Planned Parenthood and the Manchester Animal Shelter.
