Obituary for John W. Jordan
John Wilcox Jordan, 96, of Peterborough and Temple, NH, died July 29, 2018, at the Bedford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bedford, NH, after a period of declining health. John was born in Louisa, Kentucky, the son of the late John and Winnie Jordan. He was the last surviving child of 11. John served his country as a Marine during WWII and was stationed on the USS Ranger as a Gunnery Sergeant. Upon returning from the war, John worked as an auto mechanic at Hayes Motor Sales in Jaffrey, NH, before operating his own garage in Peterborough, where he worked until his retirement. John met his wife, Dorothy (Hayes), at a ball at the Bradford Room in Boston. He was a member of Peterborough Lions Club and was a Mason at the Altemont Lodge NO26 of the in Peterborough, NH. John enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially Snowmobiling. John is survived by his 3 sons, John B. Jordan, and his wife Jill, of Atlanta, Georgia, Paul E. Jordan, and his wife Heidy, of Temple, NH, and Robert A. Jordan, and his wife Heidi, of Epping, NH; 4 grandchildren: Christopher Jordan of Temple, NH.: J.D.Jordan, of Georgia, Luke Jordan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Derek Corrente of Epping, N.H. He enjoyed the company of MaryAnn Burns during his last years.
Services with Military Honors will be held later this year.
