Obituary for Linda Ann King
Linda King – devoted wife, mother and friend – of Milford, N.H., died peacefully in the company of her family Thursday evening, Oct. 20, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, N.H. She was 54.

Born Aug. 16, 1962 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Linda was the youngest child of Joseph and Flora (Jentile) Mirasola. The family spent Linda’s childhood years in New York and Florida. Linda graduated from Cooper City High School in Cooper City, Fla., in 1980 and received her associate’s degree from Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, N.Y.

During her time at Adirondack Community College, Linda was a waitress at a Lake George, N.Y., resort. At that job, she met her husband, William King of Queensbury. The couple married Sept. 21, 1985 in Lake George.

The newlyweds settled in Utica, N.Y., where their first three children – Pamela, of Arlington, Va.; Joseph, of Milford; and James, of Mendham, N.J. – were born. The family later relocated to Milford, where they welcomed their fourth child, Zachary. Linda worked in the Milford Middle School cafeteria for 18 years.

In 1996, Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was an active part of the Bridge Community Church, but she believed God’s work extended beyond the building’s four walls. She helped establish a local chapter of Young Life, an adolescent outreach ministry, and invited friends from outside her church to attend a weekly women’s Bible study.

Linda’s children were her priority. She volunteered in their classrooms, chaperoned their field trips and coordinated their sports schedules. All four of her children participated in the Pop Warner and Milford High School football and cheerleading programs. Linda’s positions with those organizations included assistant coach, team mom and cheerleading coordinator. She could often be found volunteering in the Milford Community Athletic Association concession stand; arranging carpools for her children and their teammates; and socializing and cheering from the sidelines of the town’s football fields, baseball diamonds and basketball courts. Her youngest son, Zachary, is currently quarterback for the Milford High School varsity football team, and Linda enjoyed attending his games during her final months.

Linda’s passion for athletics also extended into her own life. She enjoyed attending spinning, Body Pump and yoga classes at Hampshire Hills and walking her beloved dog Dori around her neighborhood. She participated in CROP Hunger Walks and a duathlon. She loved to watch professional football and rooted for New York teams. She enjoyed goading her New Englander friends about the rivalry.

Beyond her nuclear family, Linda enjoyed relationships with her many relatives on her mother’s side. Her mother, Flora, was one of 10 children, and Linda was her maternal grandparents’ youngest grandchild. She thought of her cousins like brothers and sisters and enjoyed visiting them during annual family reunions in New Jersey. The Jentiles emphasized the importance of treating their family members’ new spouses and friends like blood relatives. Linda adopted the same attitude when establishing new relationships with neighbors, coworkers and her children’s friends and significant others.

Linda is predeceased by her mother, who died in 2015. She is survived by her husband and four children; her father; her brother Steven Mirasola; her brother- and sister-in law Jim and Terri Gray; her nieces Andrea Mirasola, Leah Howe, Emmi Massey and Lauren Mirasola; her nephews Cliff Howe, Luke Massey and Connor Mirasola; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews and a great-niece.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Merrimack Valley Baptist Church at 517 Boston Post Road in Merrimack, N.H. A reception at Milford Middle School will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the King family requests donations to Young Life, care of Linda King, 65 West Street, Milford, N.H. 03055.
