Obituary for Linda C. Buttrick
Linda Caryl Buttrick, of Greenville, NH, died September 10, 2016, after a long battle with melanoma cancer. She was born April 14, 1952, in Malone, NY, and raised in Foxboro, MA. Linda was the daughter of Alvin Stewart and Caryl (Rich) Stewart.
Linda graduated from Foxboro High School in 1970 where she was a member of the High School marching band. She graduated from Plymouth State College in 1974.
Linda substituted and taught at various elementary schools, including St. Patrick in Jaffrey, and Lyndeborough Central School where she retired in 2015. She led the pledge of allegiance every day and sang a patriotic song with her class after they raised the flag.
Linda also served as a life guard/swimming instructor at the Greenville town pool for a number of years. She also sang alto in the church choir and the Greenville town choir, was a member of Wolfrockers Square Dance Club, and was very active in keeping the club growing and fun.
Linda was very patriotic and loved celebrating holidays, liked marching in the Pots and Pans parade in Greenville on the 3rd of July, dressing up for Halloween at school and at home to greet Trick or Treaters. She made sure the banner on the barn was changed for each season of the year, and talked to every visitor, parent, and child that came to get a Christmas tree. She enjoyed camping and sailing with family and friends and could often be found enjoying a card or board game.
Her love of teaching extended to her grandsons who she would read books with, play (swim) in the water, and tell stories about the dogs, cat, and anything else.
Linda is survived by her husband, Charles W. Buttrick; a daughter, Jennifer A. Buttrick, and Kylee Howell of Salt Lake City, Utah; a son, Benjamin S. Buttrick and his wife, Jennifer L. Buttrick and their 2 sons, Dylan and Gavin Buttrick, of Greenville, NH; a sister, Lauren G. (Stewart) Cash and her husband, Jim, of Utah; and a brother, James Stewart and his wife, Holly, of Florida.
