Monique C. Fafard, 87, of New Ipswich, NH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. She was born June 7, 1936, to parents Honoré and Marie Anne (Cayer) Rousseau.
Monique graduated as valedictorian of her high school, the Villa Augustina Academy in Goffstown, NH class of 1954. In the years that followed she met George Henri Fafard whom she married in 1959. They had a full and happy life together for 52 years before he passed away in 2011. Monique raised their six children and worked as a business partner and bookkeeper for George Fafard Construction. For her whole life, she was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church in Greenville, NH. Over the years, she was the head of several church committees and organized the readings at the services and took pride every year when her booth at the church Christmas bazaar was the highest seller. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, puzzles, coloring, cooking, and hosting family gatherings where she cherished the time she got to spend with her children and their families—particularly her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children: Michael Fafard and his wife Faye of Stoddard, NH, Thérèse Fafard and her husband Nathan of New Haven, VT, Richard Fafard and his wife Amy of Beverly, MA, James Fafard and his wife Ann of New Ipswich, NH, Laurie (Fafard) Marden and her husband Ken of Arlington, MA, and Paul Fafard and his partner Iwona of Austin, TX; her sister Sr. Theresa Rousseau; her brothers Henri Rousseau, Andy Rousseau; her grandchildren Joshua, Travis, Jake, Benjamin, Nathaniel, Duncan, Tim, Meckeila, George, Emmaline, Samantha, Myles, Isaiah, Giles, Sebi, Areannah, Bianca, Bailey; her great-grandchildren Parker, Fiona, Wesley, Oliver, Adelaide, Ellie, Stella, Ferrán, Madilynn, Sterling, Amelia and Atlas.
She is predeceased by her siblings Rita Rousseau, Louis Rousseau, Jerry Rousseau, Conrad Rousseau, Joe Rousseau and her “adopted” grandchild Derek Miles.
Family and friends are warmly welcomed to attend a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church,15 High Street, Greenville, NH on Saturday January 27, 2024, at 11am followed by a meal and gathering in the church basement hall. A burial will be held in the spring.
