Obituary for Robert A Swett
Robert A. Swett Sr., 82, of Greenville, NH, passed away at home, with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 27, 2019, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born on May 20, 1937, in Arlington, MA, son of Sydney and Katherine (Attwood) Swett.
Robert served in the United States Navy as a fireman on the DD777 Zellas Destroyer. After his discharge from the Navy he was employed by Weyerhaeuser as a paper-maker, before retiring. He enjoyed camping in his RV, watching old westerns, country music and NASCAR. Family was very important to him.
Robert is survived by his sons; Robert A. Swett Jr. of Leominster, MA, Douglas A. Swett and his wife Patricia of Fitchburg, MA, and David N. Swett of Leominster, MA. His daughter Kimberly Grillo and her husband Robert of Springfield, MA. His sisters; Nancy Murphy of Woolwich, ME, Margaret L. Gregory of Greenville, NH and Kathy McCarron and her husband Edward of Mt Dora, FL. Also his 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his former wife, Janice (Green) Swett, his son Karl Swett, his sister Barbara Halbedel and his brother Sydney Swett Jr.. He will be sadly missed but not forgotten.
Family and friends are warmly welcomed to calling hours that will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple St, Wilton, NH, 03086, from 2pm-5pm. There will be a service at the Winchendon Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA, 01475, on Monday July 8, 2019, at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
