Obituary for Sean Patrick McInerney

Sean Patrick McInerney died on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 following complications from a heart attack. Sean was predeceased by his mother Alice (Hobbs) McInerney. He also leaves his wife Kathleen (Lynch) McInerney and a daughter, Sarah McInerney and a son Jonathan McInerney. He is survived by his older brother, Kevin McInerney and his wife Ann (Thibault) McInerney. He is also survived by a many brother-in-laws, Kevin Little and his wife Pat (Lynch) Little, Daniel Lynch and his wife Kimberly (Rose) Lynch, James Lynch and his wife Christine (Foresteire) Lynch and Bryan Lynch. He is also survived by many nephews.

Growing up, Sean seemed to have an insatiable lust for new hobbies and never seemed to stop moving. He and his close friend Mark Levasseur would make many trips up to the mountains where they learned to hike, camp, rock climb, ice climb. Sean and Mark loved to play "dopes on a rope" and had many successful climbs including Devil's Tower in Wyoming and Mt. Hood in Oregon. They even climbed a route up Cannon up over the "old man" of New Hampshire's fame.

As he got older he spent less time adventuring outdoors in favor of many different interests, most notably but not limited to railroading, motorcycles and scouting. He found depth in each but is probably more well known for his involvement in their related communities and the friends that he made.

Of all his traits he might be most remembered for his quick witted humor and distinctive laugh. A runner-up would be how he loved to tell you the history of some obscure thing until your eyes glazed over. Or if you had been slacking, a resolute "get to work!".

The family will not be holding a funeral but intends to hold a celebration of life sometime this Summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you find out more about a trail or land trust in your local community and donate, join up for a work day and get involved! If you're looking for recommendations we suggest the Cotton Valley Rail Trail or The Friends of the Wapack, both great organizations that Sean worked with.
