Timothy Charles Washburn, 74, affectionately known as “Gramps” to many, passed away at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, MA, on November 25th, 2024
Born on November 15, 1950, to Guy Porter Washburn and Laila (Suominen) Washburn. Timothy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Growing up in Mason, NH, Tim was proud of his heritage and generations of roots in the community. His early days on his grandparents and parents farm forged a deep appreciation for hard work and community values that shaped the rest of his life.
As a teen, Tim worked at his Aunts dairy farm in Harvard, MA, milking cows and working in the ice cream parlor. He also worked for his father, who was the road agent for the town of Mason, and later began his own career in the construction industry where he owned and operated OxBow Construction and Approved Fire Protection.
Known for his passion for farming, Tim was proud to acquire an apple orchard and founded Washburn’s Windy Hill Orchard in Greenville NH. The orchard flourished through Tim’s dedication and care to the land, his hard work inspired all who visited.
Tims talents were diverse. A dedicated craftsman who loved working on his sawmill, his days were filled with cutting wood, tending his farm and his beloved percheron draft horses.
Beyond his many achievements, Tim carried a legacy of love and kindness. Known for keeping candy in his truck for all the grandkids, or enjoying his favorite ice cream. His playful, warm spirit endeared him to generations. He served as a caregiver and the rock of his family, always stepping in to care for loved ones in times of need, such as caring for his parents.
Timothy was predeceased by his parents Guy Porter and Laila Washburn and beloved brother Dana Washburn, and leaves behind his wife, Claire Washburn; his daughters Kimberly Anderson of Mason, NH, Tara Olson and husband Dana of Rindge, NH, step-daughters, Julie Pyhala and husband Aaron of Rindge, NH, and Samantha Krook and husband Brycen of New Ipswich NH; his brothers James Washburn of Mason NH; and Michael Washburn and his wife Kathy of Penacook, NH; his sisters Ann Corbett and husband Bill of Nashua, NH, Heidi Haley and husband John of Greenfield, NH; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Timothy’s life was a testament to hard work, and love for his family. He leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, and cherished memories. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
As the roots of an orchard bind the soil and nourish its trees, so does the love of family. Though Timothy has left this earth, his roots run deep, and his legacy will bloom for generations to come.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Mason Congregational Church 33 Valley Rd, Mason, NH 03048, on January 18, at 11:00am with lunch to follow.
